JSARS Business Meeting Minutes

8 May 2025

 

  • Meeting came to order at 19:00.

  • Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence, followed by roll call.

  • READING OF MINUTES Secretary, John, kc2kth, read minutes from the last meeting. Motion to accept by Jerry, k2md, seconded by Charlie, n1crr.

  • TREASURY REPORT Joe, n2jrj, gave treasury report. Motion to accept by “Big D”, AA2BD, seconded by Steve, kb2ggd.

  • TRAFFIC NET REPORT for month of April presented by Charlie, n1crr. Motion to accept by Steve, kd2zjg and seconded by Jim, kc1mrr.

    • 533 check-ins

    • 33/33 messages in/out

    • 533 minutes

    • 31 sessions

    • 623 participants

    • Round Table 45 check-ins, 196 minutes

  • LOCAL NEWS AND RADIO REPORT

    • Jerry, k2md, provided updates on various events including a MARS event

    • Jerry further provided information on the Volunteer Monitor Program and their role, including positive and negative feedback, potential referrals to FCC for severe infractions.

    • Chris, k2hve, provided additional information on the MARS event – Army & Air Force only, no Navy participation.

    • Chris discussed upcoming Field Day event starting 2 pm 28 June, with setup starting at 9 am. We will have a GOTA station and plan to operate 4A SNJ under NJ2AR club call.

  • OLD BUSINESS

    • John, kc2kth, revisited the topic of club promotion. Specifically, some members of the Central Ocean Rotary in Toms River were interested in finding out more about amateur radio and our upcoming Field Day event. John mentioned clubs such as these could be good partners due to synergies such as community service.

  • NEW BUSINESS

    • New members - Ed, kd2ptb, voted in to club, and Rich, ke2fwx, tested with our club and passed earning a membership at no cost.

    • The club received an antenna donated by Tom Preiser, n2xw. Thanks to members n1crr, kd2zjg, kc2vxi, and friend of the club n2ld, the antenna was installed on the flagpole at the club.

    • Tom, kd9bvc, provided an update that per the county the clubhouse will have internet access in the near future.

  • Meeting Closed at 19:48 with 16 attendees, so moved by Steve, kd2zjg, seconded by Charlie, n1crr.
